Fruit Quarantine in South San Jose

Earlier this week, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) imposed a quarantine on a large portion of South San Jose. The quarantine is a response to the discovery of seven Asian Fruit Flies. This pest doesn’t attack rotten fruit but instead goes after fresh fruit still on trees.

The CDFA is asking neighbors to not share any fruit, to prevent the spread of this pest. For more information, please refer to the press conference the CDFA released on October 5th.
